MKA has built a reputation for original and high-quality functional design work since its formation in 1985, but we don’t stop there...

Good communication is at the heart of what we do; we aim to liaise with you regularly keeping you up to date with developments on your project, so you feel part of the team and the design process.
To design a building successfully requires working closely with all partners and stakeholders through every stage of the project, from evaluating sites, identifying each unique opportunity, and developing its potential.

Our relationship with councils

We pride ourselves on being open and honest, offering advice that will achieve successful planning approval or a positive response from Local Authorities.

We have developed close relationships with Local Planning Authorities in and around Kent and work with many partners in the field of Planning and Local Authority Development Control.

Consistent Results

With every project, we set ourselves the goal of achieving the highest standards of architecture, believing that good design creates good working and living environments, promotes good social interaction, and therefore has the potential to improve lives.

Based in Tonbridge and working across Kent, we are experienced in working within a wide range of sectors including:

• Commercial
• Education
• Housing (private and multi-unit)
• Public buildings, anywhere from rural spaces to city centres

Meet The Team

Joe Martin

Joe’s approachable and honest attitude to architectural design and business ownership has won over many clients and new projects. His belief is a happy team makes a happy project, which is a term he takes to every client to increase its levels of wellbeing and design for the building’s end user.

He has a broad range of experience from commercial, education and residential sectors to working with listed buildings, conservation areas and large-scale master planning and urban regeneration works.

Joanna Russell

Planning Associate

Joanna is a Chartered Town Planner. She takes our in-house planning experience to the next level with over 25 years of experience across the residential, commercial, healthcare and educational sectors. Her knowledge means she can quickly understand the potential of a site and identify the methods for a smooth planning process.

The variety and achievement of Joanna’s work can be very satisfying, and seeing clients reach far past their ambitions is one of the most rewarding aspects of her role.

Phil Reeves

Senior Architectural Technician

Phil has an eye for detail and a fastidious approach to work, whether he is working on large- scale multi-million-pound projects to smaller domestic extensions, he finds the most pleasure from solving complex technical complications.

He’s also one of our powerhouses when it comes to supporting and educating our team on updated industry knowledge, anything from building regulations, best practices and modern methods of working.

Daniel Lembo

Daniel has a thoughtful and considerate approach to design, enjoying all stages of work from initial enquiry to completion.

He has a wealth of experience in many sectors and enjoys working collaboratively with clients to meet their brief and get the best results for them.

Clare Mitchell

Office Manager

Clare is the first point of contact for all clients, handling new and existing enquiries, greeting visitors and getting the MKA brand out there and representing us regional events. She also manages our internal accounts, social media and general administrative tasks.

Her bubbly personality and great organisational skills keep the team together in our busy office and is the pillar to lean on in our company.
